My NHS Journey

From Foundation training in Wales and England, through specialist General Practice training in Scotland, to GP Partner and Practice Leader in South Yorkshire.

  1. 2004–2007

    Wales & England

Foundation & Senior House Officer Training

Commenced his UK medical career in North Wales and England, undertaking Foundation and Senior House Officer posts across a wide range of hospital specialties — Accident & Emergency, General Medicine, Palliative Haematology & Oncology, Psychiatry, and Acute Medical Care. These early years provided invaluable experience managing acute and complex presentations and developing the clinical judgement required for independent General Practice.

  2. 2007–2009

    Aberdeen, Scotland

    General Practice Specialist Training

Completed specialist General Practice training within NHS Grampian, with experience in both metropolitan Aberdeen and rural North-East Scotland. Specialist rotations included Dermatology, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatric Surgery and Community General Practice. Successfully completed Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), becoming an independent General Practitioner.

  3. 2009–2010

    Aberdeen, Scotland

    General Practitioner

Worked as a General Practitioner in Aberdeen, providing comprehensive primary healthcare including routine consultations, urgent care, chronic disease management and home visits. Working within both urban and rural communities further strengthened his understanding of continuity of care and holistic family medicine.

  4. 2010–2015

    South Yorkshire, England

    GP Partner & Practice Leader

Progressed from Locum GP to Salaried GP before becoming a GP Partner within a busy NHS practice serving approximately 10,000 patients across two surgery sites. Alongside a full clinical workload, he assumed responsibility for practice leadership and strategic development — managing multidisciplinary teams of more than 20 staff, clinical governance, QOF performance, prescribing leadership, Shared Care protocols, mentoring Advanced Nurse Practitioners, recruitment, and improving patient access and operational efficiency.
